colour therapy

Yes I'm back....and full of energy, ready to take on 'the silly season' after yet another really fabulous time in Bali. Not everyones favourite holiday destination, but thats fine (each to their own). I have been visiting there since the seventies and have seen many changes in the past thirty or so years. I have had many a great family holiday there and was not dissapointed once again!

What really stuck in my mind this trip was how colouful Bali is - I realised whilst away that I have become quite 'beige' lately and it occured to me it that I am so ready for a bit of colour......these photos were all taken very early on the same morning - one of the rare mornings I actually took my iPhone with me and will be an inspiration (colour therapy) for me to add a bit of colour into my life!!!

smelling the roses

I'm taking a two week break. It's time for me to take a little time off to 'smell the roses'.

We have now received our final summer 'all for kat' (http://www.kittykatdesign.com.au/) we are currently well stocked (except for the pieces I will be taking away with me)!

Looking forward to a little R& R and of course as always I will be on the lookout for some new treasures to ship back home.

a creative duo

It must be a couple of months ago now that our warehouse and its contents was used by two very talented girls for a photographic shoot. Although they are both very busy, thay found time to come together to produce a collection of beautiful imagery which they passed on to me only recently. I was absolutely blown away by their work. It made me fall in love all over again with some of our gorgeous old pieces.

Styling by Paige Anderson and photography by Tess Kelly. I would be only too happy to pass on their information to anyone wanting to contact these up and coming creatives!

white lillacs

Over the years we have been fortunate to build a wonderful supportive customer base, some of who are new to Montreux, and some that have followed our journey from  its begining at our first little shop all the way to where we are located today.

We have shared many a story, happy and sad, many a remedy and recepie, compared travel stories, children stories and much more.

Last week at our warehouse out of the blue a customer arrived with the most beautiful bunch of white lillacs for no reason, just because! This same person has the most generous heart and had over the years has arrived with many a treat even giving to me the most beautiful old cigar box knowing that I collected them.

I kept the lillacs at the warehouse for the day then took therm home where I could enjoy their beauty and their wonderful scent . They certainly brightened my week and they are a reminder of how kind and generous of heart our customers can be.

These shots were taken at our warehouse last week we have started collecting some great new - old pieces!

all a flutter

As seen in yesterdays M magazine in the Sunday Age a couple of Montreux's vintage pieces - a fabulous enamel flower light fitting and a Louis style chair upholstered in the most beautiful fabric, slightly faded over time.

The light fitting has since been sold (and may I add, it has gone to a very good home)! We do however, have a couple of smaller ones available.  The chairs definitely wont last long!

Thankyou to Emily Ward for the styling and Mike Baker for the photography.

new in store

Although at Montreux we are known for specialising in vintage one off pieces, we do also source new product.

This new range of ceramics is one such product. It is quite bold in shape but subtle in colour and fits the criteria I have when buying for the shop which is simply - do I love it / would I buy it - the answer of course was - yes.

The full range has just arrived in the shop and looks as beautiful as it did when I first spotted it. It is also very affordable!
